Rev. Antonio Darnell Anderson was born and reared in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1988, he graduated from the Parkway-Zeta High school. Following graduation, Rev. Anderson enlisted in the United States Armed Forces. While serving a tour of duty in Southern Germany, Rev. Anderson accepted the Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His military career was distinguished by receiving several medals for exceptional leadership during the Persian Gulf War and several accommodations and achievement awards for Quartermaster Training and Military Service. Sensing a greater sense of call on his life, Rev. Anderson received an Honorable Discharge from the US Army in 1992 and entered Temple University. After acknowledging his call to the ministry, Rev. Anderson was licensed to preach the gospel in 1994 and later joined the Triumph Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Dr. James S. Hall.
In 1999, Rev. Anderson was called to serve as the Youth Pastor of the Zion Baptist Church of Philadelphia under the leadership of Pastor William J. Key. Under his leadership, the Youth Ministry was organized that met the needs of 700+ youth weekly and several new ministries and youth outreaches were formed. Sensing a call to the pastoral ministry, Rev. Anderson was ordained to the gospel ministry 2001 and began serving as pastor of Christ the King Baptist Church. Because of his special love for children, youth and families, Rev. Anderson worked professionally as Dean of Students, Behavioral Specialist, Mobile Shelter Therapist, Outpatient Therapist and Bullying Prevention Coordinator receiving several write ups in the Philadelphia Tribune and the New York Daily News for his outstanding work and achievements.
Rev. Anderson matriculated in the great halls of academia first at Temple University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice with a minor in Religion. Following graduation, Rev. Anderson entered the Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary where he received his Master of Divinity Degree. His kingdoms mission is to empower the least, serve the lost and lift up the downtrodden. Rev. Anderson previously served as Founding Pastor of the Christ the King Baptist Church, Philadelphia, PA, and served as Senior Pastor of a large urban congregation in New York. Rev. Anderson previously served as an Associate Pastor at the 4,000 plus membership of Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, NY under the Pastoral Leadership of Dr. W. Franklyn Richardson.
Feeling a greater sense of call, Rev. Anderson returned home to Philadelphia to plant and lead Hope Baptist Church Philly. In its first year of existence, Hope Church Philly has been featured in several local papers including the Daily News and Tribune highlighting its ministry and local work in community. Feeling a greater sense of call, Rev. Anderson answered the call to become the 3rd pastor of the Mount Tabor Baptist Church of Philadelphia. Since his arrival, membership has doubled, tithes increased by 40% and new ministries were created to meet the needs of the congregation and community.
In 2016, Rev. Anderson released his first book, ‘Seven Successful Principles for Single Mother’s Raising Sons’. Rev. Anderson is blessed to be united in Holy matrimony to the former LaRonda Savage of Philadelphia. From this union, they are the blessed parents of Princess Aleah Mar-E’ and Princess Aneesa Elease. Through all of his ministry work, accomplishments and educational achievements, being a husband to his lovely wife and a father to his precious daughters are his greatest joy.
